Tim Palmer appointed new North West Sydney Football, Coach and Player Development Manager.31/1/2022 ![]() North West Sydney Football (NWSF) are excited to announce NWSF has appointed Tim Palmer to the role of Coach and Player Development Manager. Tim will support the NWSF Head of Football, Tim Thorne, to build "next practice" coach and player development systems and education to support our local clubs. This part-time role will complement his current professional role as lecturer of performance and coaching subjects at the Australian College of Physical Education and provide an extension to his current role as a coach with the Parraroos and his ongoing six year involvement with NWS Spirit Football Club. “The majority of Tim’s role will be to take the NWSF and NWS Spirit FC’s DNA to the next level by delivering it to the local regions 34 member clubs via online and face to face programs.” Stated Tim Thorne NSWF, Head of Football.

![]() 2022 will see 10 teams contest the inaugural Beryl Ackroyd Cup competition for women’s teams, while there will be 23 teams contesting the 10th edition of the Gilmour Cup. Helen Armson, Chair of the NWSF Board stated “It is exciting to launch the inaugural Beryl Ackroyd cup in 2022, and it's wonderful to support the 10th anniversary of the Gilmour Cup” Fantastic news also from West Ryde Trophies, who are going to generously donate the Beryl Ackroyd Cup (trophy) in support of women’s football. Matches will commence on Friday 18th February 2022 with the finals to be held on Saturday 19th March 2022. ![]() North West Sydney Football is excited to announce the appointment of Tony Macko to the Board, effective immediately. Tony nominated for the vacant position left by Lindsay Donald in late 2021 and will be a welcome member of the team. Aside from a long and illustrious career in the corporate world as a chartered accountant and company secretary within the resource sector, Tony’s credentials and passion for football and the local region are just as impressive. Tony is the current president of Pennant Hills Football Club (elected in August 2016) and a committee member since August 2009. He was awarded life membership of the Club in 2015; and continues to play and coach. Andrew Barnes appointed as North West Sydney Football’s new Chair of General Purpose Tribunal20/1/2022 ![]() North West Sydney Football (NWSF) is very excited to announce that Andrew Barnes has been appointed as the new Chair of its General Purpose Tribunal. Andrew comes to NWSF with a professional career in IT, but even more importantly, an unquestionable level of experience within the game, at all levels, for over 15 years. A quick summation of Andrew’s involvement within Football, can be read below. NWSF Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Toivonen was obviously ecstatic with the appointment. “With someone of Kath Odgers personality, experience and knowledge moving out of the role, it was obviously going to be a very hard task to find someone to fill her shoes.” Toivonen stated. “Looking at Andrew’s resume both within and outside of football, and getting to know him as a person, it was obvious that he was going to be a great fit for our football community.” “The judicial aspects and integrity of the game within our region, could not be in better hands.” “I'm looking forward to working in a new environment, where some obvious care has been taken to provide real structure around conduct” Barnes said. “Hopefully, the experience I've gained in Bankstown and with Football NSW will help me to carry on Kath's work in a meaningful way.” Andrew Barnes Football BIO
![]() The success of Spirit FC on and off the field in recent seasons will continue to grow into the 2022 NPL season with the announcement that Athletes Authority will become one of the major club partners. With the recent NWS Koalas FC and NWS Spirit FC merger of both clubs for the 2022 winter season, the partnership agreement will support NSW Spirit FC’s ability to deliver an innovative and elite peak performance environment. Athletes Authority will provide the highest level of physical conditioning and sports rehabilitation to the playing group while developing the coaching unit to expand their knowledge on strength, conditioning, and rehab best practice. NWSF’s Head of Football, Tim Thorne said “having Athlete’s Authority strength and conditioning team at every training and every game will ensure that our players are prepared to perform at the highest standard week in, week out.” Athlete’s Authority physiotherapy team will ensure that injuries -- whenever they happen -- are put on the fast-track of recovery. This partnership means eligible players will have access to free assessment and reimbursed physiotherapy services. “This partnership will support our club’s high-performance delivery.
