North West Sydney Football views the National Club Development Program (NCDP) as one of the keys to success
West Ryde Rovers FC, Ryde Saints United FC and Epping FC are the first Clubs within North West Sydney Football to complete the NCDP and have shown their commitment to planning for the future.
All NWSF Clubs are encouraged to complete the program, with a view to helping themselves improve and raising standards across the Association. This will quantify what we do well and areas that could be improved for the benefit of all members within the Association.
Chief Executive Officer, Jeremy Toivonen stated that “All Clubs are encouraged to complete the Program not only to receive official recognition for their countless hours of hard work, but also, help the Association look at strategic ways to provide support to all clubs.”
“The NCDP will help quantify the areas and we can look at collectively to maintain or raise the standard of services currently provided to all member going forward.”
“This process will aim to focus on the retention of our members rather than the usual focus on recruitment."

The NCDP aims to raise the overall standard of club administration and operations at all levels of the game, Football Australia has established the National Club Development Program (NCDP) providing a clear model to develop and maintain a successful football club.
The NCDP is expected to achieve the following objectives from a Club and Association perspective:
North West Sydney Football (NWSF) is pleased to announce that David Cooper, currently on its Football Management Committee, has been appointed as its new Competition Manager.
David comes to the Association with extensive football related administrative service at Soccer Australia, Football NSW and decades of volunteer experience at NWSF and local Club level.
Chief Executive Officer, Jeremy Toivonen stated that “Dave’s drive for our game to reach its well-deserved heights, is unwavering.”
“His previous experience at all levels of the football family and his passion for grassroots football within our North West footprint, will undoubtable make him a key asset to the team and all NWSF Clubs.”
David Cooper was ecstatic with the appointment to the role and added that "I am extremely honoured to be able to represent North West Sydney Football in this challenging and exciting role.”
"Grassroots football is the heart and soul of this great game and I can't think of a better organisation to be a part of and also a terrific group of clubs to work alongside.
"North West Sydney Football is in its infancy as an association and I look forward to helping our clubs and players to achieve success at all levels, both on and off the field."
David will commence the new role on 5 November 2021.
The Board of NWSF is delighted to announce that we have secured the services of Jeremy Toivonen as our new CEO, who will replace Mark Lockie who is retiring this year. Jeremy will commence on 27 September.
Over the past 25 years, Jeremy has developed a comprehensive knowledge of, and gained vast experience in, engaging with national, state and local sporting organisations; predominantly in football. Jeremy holds a BA in Sports Administration (University of Canberra) and previously held the position of Member Services Manager at Football Australia. For 17 years Jeremy was General Manager of Manly Warringah Football Association Inc. and Manly United Football Club Ltd; serving a combined total of approx. 20,000 registered participants.
In accepting the role, Jeremy said:
"Football is entering a very exciting phase across the country and I'm very proud, excited and privileged to be involved in its delivery with the team at North West Sydney Football."
"This region is renowned, not only for a great history and passion for the game, but a great footballing culture that has established it as the number one sport in the area."
"I very much look forward to working closely with the board, staff, clubs and community as we all strive to deliver the best product and experience for all members, regardless of what level they engage at."
In these uncertain times that we are currently facing, it was heart-warming to see local club All Saints Hunters Hill do their bit in supporting their local community during this latest lockdown.
Club President Euan Macled has always strived to connect the club to the community in a way that benefits everyone. Euan as the resident “ideas man” chose 3 local businesses that the club would fund. The idea was to incentivise a visit to the business by their ASH members who are asked to purchase something in addition. It was anticipated that for every $1 the club spends, ASH families spend an additional $2. The Club funded nearly 200 drinks over 3 days and Dachshund Coffee estimated the additional revenue to be $1500.
Club Registrar and local Michael Clayton credits the great initiate to the club community who surprised their local businesses, such as Dachshund Café, with an act of goodwill during this difficult time.
“When football is not being played it has been wonderful to still have something positive to connect the club to our members and the wider community.” said Matt Clayton.
Susy Selvarajan was hesitant at first when she initially introduced to Summer Football by some friends who she had played netball with, but they convinced her that if she could can catch a ball then she can definitely kick one too. Now Susy is a regular of one of North West Sydney Football’s Summer Football programs, and is recommending that everyone else, just like Susy’s did, turn their mates into teammates!

Susy enjoys the aspect of playing outside in the beautiful summer evenings at one of our highest quality local synthetic grounds. Pennant Hills Summer Football competition has provided her with a fun way of meeting new people, playing with friends, being competitive and belonging to a team or group.
I really feel a sense of belonging to the community and meeting other women in the community have been my highlight
Summer Football provides players and clubs the opportunity to continue playing and refereeing their favourite sport during the spring and summer months. As a popular activity for both males and females, with junior and senior competitions run across 6 venues within North West Sydney Football, there is an abundance of choice for everyone!

Celebrating NAIDOC Week, North West Sydney Football Women’s Football Manager and long-serving female football advocate Denise Robinson couldn’t be more prouder of her Indigenous heritage
The theme for this year’s NAIDOC Week is ‘Heal Country’ which calls for a better understanding from all Australians to continue to seek greater protections for lands, waters, sacred sites and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.
An important week for each and every Australian, Robinson stressed the importance NAIDOC Week played in ensuring our respect and further education on our proud Indigenous community.
A well-respected figure in the women’s game in New South Wales, Denise Robinson has never forgotten her admiration for her culture hailing from the Biripi people of Taree.

Unfortunately in recent weeks we have seen an increase in poor player and spectator behaviour at our matches, and have had 2 AA matches abandoned due to spectators entering the field.
Other instances have occurred at minis and junior matches where parents have been involved in verbal altercations with each other, and abuse of referees.

Following the successful establishment of North West Sydney Football from the merger of GHFA and North West Sydney Women’s Football Association, the boards of NWSF, Spirit and Koalas are now excited to confirm the forthcoming merger of our two representative clubs - NWS Spirit FC and NWS Koalas FC.
The formalities of merging the clubs will take place during 2021 with the intention of entering all NWS teams in the 2022 FNSW Competitions under the new entity.
Whilst NWS Spirit and NWS Koalas currently operate as separate club structures, the two clubs have collaborated in 2020 and 2021, sharing resources and coaching support across all teams as well as having joint training activities. More efficient use of the excellent facilities at Christie Park has also resulted.
A number of initiatives such as the joint 2020 shirt presentation have already occurred successfully, and more are planned in 2021.
As major stakeholder, the NWSF board saw the merger as a logical next step and are delighted on the collaborative approach. A working party has been established to drive the merger with representatives from both clubs and the NWSF Board.
The benefits of a merged entity include pooling of resources, reduced costs and consolidated workload for volunteers and will result in a more cohesive club for our representative players and a consistent pathway for our Association players. The benefit in combining the men’s and women’s programs will be as quoted by Sport Australia, that “mixed training and competition can foster mutual respect; improve both boys’ and girls’ social skills; enhance resilience; and provide experiences that will help them in their broader lives.”
At this stage, the name of the new entity is yet to be established, and the working party is actively seeking suggestions from players and parents.
