FFW2022 Spotlight: PINK celebrate with Mothers Day Cup

​NWSF PINK All Abilities Team celebrated last Sunday 8th May at Morrison Bay with a Mothers Day Cup. 

Girls and their families came together to play football and enjoy some Mothers Day festivities.

The PINK (Play, Interact, Network, Kick) program provides an opportunity for female players of all ages and abilities to participate in a structured 10-week football program. This includes a Football NSW Gala Day and NWSF Women's Grand Final Day. Players will learn skills, improve fitness, meet new friends and have fun. Shirts, shorts and socks are provided.

FFW2022 Ref Spotlight: Clare Lawrence taking control on and off the football field.

Clare Lawrence is leading the way in North West Sydney Football as a referee, volunteer, coach, and player. 

Clare is a distinguished member of the NWSF Womens World Cup 2023 & Beyond Working Party. You've likely seen her around the ground as she focuses on growing female participation- in particular referees!

Clare does it all - and she does it well! She has played for 16 years, Refereed for 12 years and Coached for 10 years across summer & winter competitions. On top of that she has been a member of the Macquarie Dragons committee for 6 years and in 2022 took on the role as Chairperson of the North West Sydney Football Referees Association (NWSFRA) Appointment Committee. The first female ever in this role!

FFW2022 Coach Spotlight: Susy Selvarajan breaking down barriers and supporting future Socceroo's and Matilda's

Susy Selvarajan is leading the way in North West Sydney Football as a coach, player and volunteer. 

Susy is a featured member of the NWSF Womens World Cup 2023 & Beyond Working Party. Both for her all round passion and commitment to football, but also to growing female participation- in particular coaches!

She is currently the Female Coaching Coordinator at Normanhurst Eagles Football Club. Her role is to recruit, support and develop female coaches in the club. Susy has also coached the Under 10 and Under 11 Boys Division 2 teams at Normo for last 2 seasons. Plus, she's played in the Women’s Over 35 for the last 7 years.   SUPER STAR!

Great news for one of our local clubs West Ryde Rovers Football Club!

Congratulations to West Ryde Rovers Football Club on their successful application to the 'Get in the Game' Grant, proudly supported by Cadbury x Women Sport Australia.
​
Winning this grant amongst the 466 applications is no small feat - congratulations to the wonderful volunteers who support the growth of female football within West Ryde and throughout North West Sydney.

The club will use the grant to purchase new uniforms so that Men's and Women's kit are all matching. This is a great initiative to boost their inclusive club offerings.

NWSF is excited to announce that in Season 2022 We have successfully launched our new Women’s Premier League (WPL).

This is seasons competition features 6 teams, catering for the Associations top female players! With hopes to expand and grow in coming seasons. 

Confirmed participating Clubs for 2022 include:
  1. Beecroft Wombats Football Club,
  2. Gladesville Ravens Sports Club (2 teams),
  3. North Epping Rangers Sports Club,
  4. West Ryde Rovers Football Club,
  5. West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Football Club.

​Gladesville Hornsby Women’s Soccer Association was formed in 1981 with the first year of competition being the winter of 1982. 
The founding clubs of GHWSA in the first season were:
  • Ryde District Panthers,
  • Ryde RSL,
  • Epping-Eastwood FC,
  • Hills Memorial Club (now Hills Hawks),
  • Epping YMCA
  • Beecroft SC
